Tutoring ‘Self Awareness’ programmes for Women &amp; Teens, she will discuss the importance of standing up for ourselves and why we sometimes need to ruffle a few feathers.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;From Her Corner runs on the 3rd Tuesday of the month @ 7.30pm for April, May &amp; June.  All are welcome to attend and entry is by gold coin donation.  Talks are scheduled to begin at 7.30pm followed by discussion and supper.  We've got a great group of Speakers lined up to cover several interesting topics.  Mark the dates &amp; keep an eye out for fliers and more information!&lt;br /&gt;When : Tuesday May 18th &amp; June 15th. @ 7.30pm, gold coin donation.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Introducing Featherston’s Own:  Featherston’s Own is a non-profit Charitable Trust that will be operating from the Community Centre.  Recognizing the Community need, Stella, Karin &amp; Mary will be focusing on children’s items and their needs i.e. clothes, toys, &amp; furniture.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To launch, Featherston’s Own held a fundraising Garage Sale with on Sunday May 9th.  Be on the lookout for future garage sales and fundraising efforts by Featherston’s Own as they work towards setting up a charity clothing &amp; small goods shop on the Community Centre Grounds.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Yoga Classes: The Centre has a couple of great options for those interested in Yoga.  For each, please bring your own towel or mat.&lt;br /&gt;Wednesday Nights: For those interested in Iyengar Yoga, join Nicky on Wednesdays starting May 19th.  These sessions run 5.45 – 7.15pm, and will cater for beginners.&lt;br /&gt;Saturday Mornings: Nora’s Saturday Morning Hatha Yoga Sessions re-start on Saturday May 22nd.  These sessions run 10.30 – 12.00, and cater to all levels.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Dancercise Returns!  Join Lara on Wednesdays @ 7.15 starting Wednesday May 12th.  Is it possible to have this much fun grooving to some great music and still call it exercise? &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Southern Exposure: Tune in to 92.7 Arrow FM at noon on May 20th &amp; 28th  to hear the next LIVE edition of the Community Centre’s Southern Exposure programme.  Yep, that’s right, the Featherston programmes are now airing LIVE from the Community Centre !  You can also listen via the internet by going to http://www.arrowfm.co.nz and then clicking LISTEN LIVE.   Southern Exposure will also be rebroadcast at 5am on the 3rd &amp; 4th Sunday of the month.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Red Cross 1st Aid Courses for 2010:  The Red Cross will be returning to&lt;br /&gt;the Featherston Community Centre in May to hold their 2-day basic &amp; refresher courses.  The next course is set for May 26th &amp; 28th; contact the Community Centre to book your spot.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Swish Schwap Winter Clothing Swap: You’ve read about it in the papers &amp; maybe seen it on TV or the internet.  Now we’re bringing you our version of the Clothing Swap. For a $5 donation to the Community Centre you can update and refresh your Winter wardrobe! Bring your good quality clothes &amp; accessories in &amp; swap. We are going to operate on a One in/One out basis. For more information about this fantastic weekend&lt;br /&gt;please contact Heather at 308 8239&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Whats On in the Garden December&lt;/span&gt;: Beyond Organics: Come learn&lt;br /&gt;what you can be doing in your garden to feed your family healthy,&lt;br /&gt;homegrown food.  Join Setha Davenport, B.A. in Human Ecology, minor&lt;br /&gt;in Sustainable Agriculture, who has been growing organically for over&lt;br /&gt;nine years in several different regions, including two years in Wairarapa. &lt;br /&gt;This course will be offered once a month catering to what is happening&lt;br /&gt;seasonally in the garden.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This months session will focus on soil fertility and how this effects the&lt;br /&gt;nutrients available in the food you grow. BYO&lt;br /&gt;Uke!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Southern Exposure&lt;/span&gt;: Tune in to 92.7 Arrow FM at noon on December 20th &lt;br /&gt;&amp;amp; 27th to hear the next edition of the Community Centres Southern&lt;br /&gt;Exposure programme.  As part of Southern Exposure the Community Centre&lt;br /&gt;will also be broadcasting its Speakers Corner Series later in the evening&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Speakers Corner 2009&lt;/span&gt;:  Our last Speaker in the series, Warren Maxwell,&lt;br /&gt;may be a big musician, but hes chosen Featherston to call home. &lt;br /&gt;Warren, one of the driving forces behind Trinity Roots, Fat Freddys Drop&lt;br /&gt;and Little Bushman has lived in Featherston for just over 3 years.  Warren&lt;br /&gt;spoke on December 2nd, as the final guest in a 6-part lecture series&lt;br /&gt;highlighting the lives of fascinating Featherstonians.   It was a fantastic&lt;br /&gt;evening and a perfect way to close out the series, with over 60 people&lt;br /&gt;attending.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Speakers Corner, running the 1st Wednesdays of the month at 7.30 from&lt;br /&gt;July  December, has offered a chance to find out more about the&lt;br /&gt;interesting people who live in your Community.  Each night had a 20-30&lt;br /&gt;minute presentation followed by a question period and supper. The&lt;br /&gt;Community Centre had a great time organising this series &amp;amp; would like to&lt;br /&gt;thank all those who spoke, volunteered and attended these evenings.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Centre Work Bee &amp;amp; BBQ&lt;/span&gt;:  The Centre is planning a Work Bee &amp;amp; BBQ on&lt;br /&gt;Saturday January 9th  from  9 - 4 to spruce up our grounds &amp;amp; prep for our&lt;br /&gt;big Grounds Redesign project. All are invited to come along&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Arthritis Clinic&lt;/span&gt;:  The next FREE Arthritis Clinic is scheduled for Wednesday&lt;br /&gt;February 3rd from 12-4pm. Kate is a cellist,&lt;br /&gt;the Production Manager for Radio New Zealand Concert, and a cultural&lt;br /&gt;ambassador for classical music. Come try Calm Abiding Meditation with Venerable Ngawang Lhasto. Venerable Lhatso is a western Buddhist nun with many years of practice and training in meditation. It is $100 for the 10-week term and entitles you to full membership and access to the Bodymind Pilates studio up in Masterton, which holds over 20 classes per week! At this stage we are on the hunt for donated building supplies, particularly exterior paint &amp;amp; timber. Mindset and mental agility are the starting point for every achievement, says David, director of Elevate Coaching. Better known as “Sav”, he has been a Professional Coach for six years, and has made Featherston his home for the last two and a half years.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“I help people and organisations clarify what their goals are and create pathways to get them there,” he explains. Drawing on a combination of neuro science and sports psychology, Sav has worked with clients as diverse as singer-songwriters, businesspeople, competitive athletes and government ministries.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Speakers’ Corner, running the 1st Wednesdays of the month at 7.30 from July – December, offers a chance to find out more about the interesting people who live in your Community. Gold Coin donation greatly appreciated.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;CLEAN UP FEATHERSTON: The 3rd Annual Clean Up Featherston is scheduled for Saturday September 12th 10am-Noon.  Come out and spend the morning being part of the Great New Zealand Spring Clean.  A yummy Potluck lunch follows.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;S.W.A.L.A  CAR WASH &amp;amp; SAUSAGE SIZZLE:  S.W.A.L.A., the South Wairarapa Adult Learning Association will be holding a Car Wash and Sausage Sizzle at the Community Centre on Saturday September 19th from 9am-2pm.  $5 per car with proceeds going to support their courses &amp;amp; programmes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;GARDEN DESIGN COURSE:  Looking for ideas for this year’s garden?  Spring is in the air &amp;amp; Sue Davis is returning with her 7-week course starting the week of September 21st.  Classes are Mondays 6.30-8.30 and $100 for the Course. Monday October 5th, Day 1 will cover the Basic 1st Aid, and Friday October 9th will be the Day 2 refresher/re-certification. These evenings of talks, discussion and supper will begin at 7:30pm on the first Wednesday of every month from July to December.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;"&gt;Geoscientist Dr. Troy Baisden begins the series with a presentation on his recent trip to Easter Island. Sue Latta, our very own Muay Thai (kickboxing) world champion, will share some motivational stories in August. David Savage, professional team and leadership coach, will join us in September to share ideas from his work with some of NZ's most successful people. In October we will hear some exciting underwater tales from Mark Fenwick, part of the team who worked on the giant squid at Te Papa. November brings us the fabulous Kate Mead, producer and presenter of Sound Lounge on Radio NZ Concert. And in December, who else but Warren Maxwell, composer and musician for Trinity Roots, Fat Freddy's Drop and Little Bushman. Over the last couple of months we have               received a huge amount of support from several               organisations.
