Whats On in the Garden December: Beyond Organics: Come learn
what you can be doing in your garden to feed your family healthy,
homegrown food. Join Setha Davenport, B.A. in Human Ecology, minor
in Sustainable Agriculture, who has been growing organically for over
nine years in several different regions, including two years in Wairarapa.
This course will be offered once a month catering to what is happening
seasonally in the garden.

This months session will focus on soil fertility and how this effects the
nutrients available in the food you grow. Setha will be discussing how to
grow Nutrient Dense Food, and how this effects not only the health of the
plants, but in turn, the health of the humans eating the food.

Cost : $12

Speakers Corner 2009: Our last Speaker in the series, Warren Maxwell,
may be a big musician, but hes chosen Featherston to call home.
Warren, one of the driving forces behind Trinity Roots, Fat Freddys Drop
and Little Bushman has lived in Featherston for just over 3 years. Warren
spoke on December 2nd, as the final guest in a 6-part lecture series
highlighting the lives of fascinating Featherstonians. It was a fantastic
evening and a perfect way to close out the series, with over 60 people
attending.

Speakers Corner, running the 1st Wednesdays of the month at 7.30 from
July December, has offered a chance to find out more about the
interesting people who live in your Community. Each night had a 20-30
minute presentation followed by a question period and supper. The
Community Centre had a great time organising this series & would like to
thank all those who spoke, volunteered and attended these evenings.
